WP3: Individualized treatment of obesity

Towards personalized treatment by understanding individual variation in obesity and response to therapy.

Work Package 3 focuses on developing individualized approaches to the prevention and treatment of obesity. Not all individuals with obesity have the same risk of disease, highlighting the need to move beyond a one-size-fits-all approach.

By combining deep phenotyping, clinical data, and treatment studies, WP3 aims to improve risk stratification and predict treatment response, supporting more personalized and effective care.

Sub-work packages

WP3a - Obesity phenotypes

(Lead: Kurt Højlund)

WP3a investigates different obesity phenotypes to improve risk stratification beyond BMI.

The work uses clinical, biochemical, imaging, and genetic data to identify subgroups with distinct cardiometabolic risk profiles and to refine prediction models for disease development.

WP3b - Prediction of treatment response

(Lead: Claus Bogh Juhl)

Wp3b explores how individuals respond differently to weight-reducing treatments, including pharmacological interventions.

The studies combine physiological and psychological phenotyping with clinical trials to improve prediction of treatment effects and support more individualized treatment strategies.
